About Cedar Swan
Trees grow slowly in Northern Minnesota. The shorter days and slower growing seasons result in wood with tighter, stronger and more resilient grain. The same can be said about the people who call Northern Minnesota their home. Long, cold winters drive residents into their woodshops, where they work with their hands to express their creativity and passion for quality and craftsmanship.
The Cedar Swan was inspired by the amazing artists and woodworkers throughout Northern Minnesota. Our goals are to:
– Support local woodworkers and artists with a warm and inspiring retail space.
– Create a community of artists who share a common interest in craftsmanship.
– Showcase the talents and expertise of community members willing to teach their skills to others.
– Inspire passion in the next generation of artists, woodworkers and creators.
By purchasing high-quality wood toys, household items, and gifts, you are also reducing the amount of plastic waste that ends up in our water, our food and our bodies. Our hope in curating our products is that the toys and gifts purchased today will be constructed so well that they can be passed down to the next generation…creating a legacy of appreciation for quality.

Artists and Classes
If you are interested in taking a class, please ask our staff to put you on our text list. When we have enough people on the list to fill a class, we will schedule with the instructor and text you the details you will need to sign up. There is no commitment required to get on our text list.
Private/Custom Classes – If you have a group of 5-7 people committed to taking a class, call or Email us with details and requests. We will work with instructors to schedule a class to suit your needs (the more notice we have, the more likely we can do so). Class sizes are limited to 7 attendees. Generally, if there are fewer than 7 people in your group, we will open up any additional seating to other art enthusiasts the community.

Online ordering for pickup or delivery is open year-round.
The Cedar Swan Woodshop is located at 108 Main Street in Nevis, MN (directly across from the Post Office).
